Jon is starting to feel better and better, today he refused to take a nap :P getting back to himself. The follow up at the hospital did not resolve anything, its too soon. I am shocked at the price of prescriptions – 7 pills (one a day) $60.00 :o its crazy! He is on 400mg of Avelox, so fingers crossed his infection will be gone soon!

This morning we went do some groceries, replenish the produce in the fridge LOL. One of the things on my list was some new tea.  I must have stood in the isle for about ten minutes looking at all of the different kinds available. One jumped right out to me :) Presidents Choice Chocolate Chai YUMMMIE! I never tried Chai tea before but the chocolate part was tempting LOL.

SO after putting my groceries away I grabbed my book and cup of tea and ventured outside to read a chapter or two. The tea was AMAZING, very aromatic and yet not overpowering, something I would enjoy simmering on the stove as well.

I had to google it and find out just what Chai tea was all about. Turns out there are a lot of really good health benefits to this black tea! “Not only does Chai tea offer the health benefits that you get from the tea itself but the spices added have additional health benefits that you won’t find in other types of tea. Some spices that are typically added include Cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and pepper.”

“Cardamom helps relieve indigestion problems so if you’re having digestive problems, this tea may help.

Cinnamon helps lower blood pressure, reduces pains and fevers, relieve symptoms of indigestion, nausea, gas and heartburn and can also help with menstrual cramps.

Cloves are said to help invigorate the body and are reputed to be great at relieving flus and colds.

Ginger is a great medicinal herb that’s been used for thousands of years and is said to help fight off the common cold as well the flu and is particularly effective in strengthening and healing the respiratory and digestive systems. It is also said to help with cardiovascular health, heal ulcers and reduce fevers and body aches.

Nutmeg is said to to help keep the mucous membranes, particularly those in the throat, moist it is a great herb for anyone that has problems in this area.

Pepper, which might seem like an odd thing to have in a tea is another ingredient of Chai tea which helps stimulate the taste buds and is said to improve digestion. it has been used for ages to help prevent gas and has both antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It is a great herb for promoting a healthy digestive system.

It also is said that Chai tea is lower in caffeine than coffee, something for you coffee drinkers to think about ;) you can have 3 cups of this tea to 1 cup of coffee!

Today was a better day, hubby is starting to feel better and act like his normal self. Its so hard to have someone in the family sick and be completely helpless. He got to eat a nice big spaghetti dinner so he was happy :)

I was a bit creative today and worked on a new layout for my tutorials, I think it is cute and cheery. I used my “All about Me” kit & had fun with it. Tomorrow I will be able to finish up transferring all of the tutorials over and that will be done!

I woke up at 7:30 am to a sick sweetie in bed with me, he who never sleeps past 6am. :( He was not feeling well at dinner last night and went straight to bed. Thinking he is just over tired I set the alarm for 5am so that he could get up for work. He informed me that he was still not feeling well, and naturally being a diabetic I tested his sugars thinking that they might be low … they where perfect. Back to bed he went. After struggling with him for the better part of the day I finally gave him no choice and off to the hospital he went. 4 hours later he comes staggering in the door with the results of a chest and kidney infection :( SO now he is off work until Wednesday when he goes back to the hospital for a follow up…poor guy!

I made my first layout today in wayyyy to long…was simple but a cute kit to play with, especially with all the little I <3 U comment taggies-perfect for my teenage texting addicts LOL. Its made with a Chrissy W template & the freebie A Little Birdie Told Me” kits by Ziggle & Meg Mullens. Chrissy W has some templates on sale today @ Elemental Scraps for $1.00 an offer I could not refuse LOL.

SO today is the day!

The day where I accomplish my goal of eating healthier and loosing pounds and inches. A few years ago (before I became an Internet junkie lol) I tried this diet Mancavi and it really worked wonders for me, essentially eating from the Canada’s Food Guide with modifications. SO this is what I will be trying again.

My problem is that I don’t eat enough and definitely not enough healthy foods. I also need to become more active.

I have weighed myself this morning (not going to share lol), planned my meals for the day- which effect my meals for the week. I have set my first personal goal of loosing 10 lbs by Valentines day and take a walk 3 times a week. Now I am ready to get back into the swing of things.

Per day (as per their diet for my size/weight): 3 Protien, 3 Dairy, 3 Fruit, 2 + Veggies, 3 Bread, 3 Condiments, 3 Fat, 1 cereal, 6 cups water.

Per week I am allowed to substitute 3 bread for either potatoes, pasta or rice…max of 3 servings of cheese and the same for eggs. Of course the idea for protein is to get a variety of meat and they recommend eating fish a few times a week.

Breakfast:

1 hard boiled egg, 1 slice of whole wheat bread with 1 tsp of non hydrogenated margarine, 1 pear and 1 glass of chocolate milk (<— my biggest food addiction)

1 protein, 1 bread, 1 fat, 1 fruit, 1 milk

Snack:

Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding cup

1 milk

Lunch:

1 cheese string, 2o Breton mini crackers, 2 cups fresh chopped veggies, 2 tbsp fat free home made dip (2 tbsp fat free sour cream, 1tsp chopped red roasted pepper, 1 tsp chopped fresh chives & a dash of “Club House garlic and roasted peppers” spice)

1 protein, 1 bread, 2 vegetables, 2 condiments

Snack:

1 sugar free pomegranate Jello cup

free

Supper:

3oz ham, 1 cup brussels sprouts with 1 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 cup roasted sweet potatoes with 1 tsp olive oil, 1 cup homemade fruit salad.

1 protein, 2 veggies, 3 fat, 1 bread (substitute), 1 fruit.

Snack:

Cereal,  1 cup white milk, 1 cup fruit salad.

1 cereal, 1 milk, 1 fruit

Remaining for the week:
